Meet Tim

Settimio (Tim) Argento has been living in Montreal since 1966.

Working in the construction industry all his life, he has handled projects in concrete placement and finishing, as well as in civil work, rehabilitation and construction of concrete structures, bridges, viaducts and indoor/outdoor parking’s. His various projects have led him to work in the greater Montreal area, as well as across Quebec, eastern Ontario, and Resolute Bay.

Having always had a passion for art, this became manifest in 2011 when he began woodcarving with his older brother, Giuseppe, who was a sculptor himself. Sadly, Giuseppe passed away in the spring of 2013.

Since then, Tim has taken courses at Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal and several sculpting schools to pursue his passion. His ambition and desire to perfect his art led him to take courses in low-high relief, round bust, clay and ice sculpting.

Tim followed courses with renowned sculpting and carving teachers such as, M. Guy Pierre master carver and world known artist M, Marcello Giorgi.

His studies enabled him to acquire the technical skill and aesthetic expression needed to convey the message, emotion and vision of each of his works.

Tim finds great inspiration in human anatomy, from the people he meets in everyday life.

He can spend hours, even days, sculpting in wood, clay, ice and pyrography. His attention to detail, evident in all his work, sometimes leads him to work until the pieces feel like they speak and move!

His passion has also led him to take part in several competitive exhibitions, from which he has won several prizes for his works.

To better understand the movement of the subject he wants to create, Tim will often use clay before beginning the project in wood. He is always fascinated when seeing his ideas come to life in various types of wood, such as walnut, elm, mahogany, cherry, oak, olive, pine, cedar, and more.

The art of sculpting is Tim's instrument for expressing his creativity and talent.

He encourages everyone, whatever their age, to find their passions and see the beauty in everyday life.
